If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Cardinals, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Reaching for Logue left real value on the table behind him. The veteran additions, Jaire Alexander chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th pick they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
In the 26th overall pick they get a double-digit-sack hope at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
T'Vondre Sweat in pick No. 66 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Christian Mahogany at Round 3, Pick 26 is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tommy Eichenberg in pick 133. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No edge and no loss on Javion Cohen in slot 140; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No drama and no debate, Christian Jones went about where he belonged in the Round 6 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid a round early for Mark Perry in No. 225, more than the board wanted. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Zion Logue in slot 227 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The roster fit checks out.
