Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Mason Taylor got past him. The Eagles do not have to explain a thing at the 160th overall pick.
A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. They will need Scourton to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 31st overall pick they get a problem off the edge, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Dylan Fairchild in the Round 2 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board fumbled Marcus Mbow all the way to pick No. 95, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
They robbed the room for Barrett Carter here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor itch, scratched.
Mason Taylor in slot 160 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Steal is underselling it; Rylie Mills at the 164th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Kyren Lacy in No. 166 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
