The Raiders spent the pick that matters most on Shedeur Sanders, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
On value alone, Wilson makes the weekend a net positive. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Buchanan proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
They let Emeka Egbuka come to them and pounced at the 37th pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A straight-up fair deal on Quinshon Judkins at slot 68, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
By-the-book stuff, Zy Alexander at Round 3, Pick 9 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A tidy bit of business in pick 107, where Gunnar Helm graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
Circle this one: Jared Wilson at No. 144 is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jack Nelson at pick No. 182. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They reached into another round for Teddye Buchanan, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A reach for Kitan Crawford in pick No. 218; a little patience would have been rewarded. It adds depth where they could use a little.
The board fumbled Chimere Dike all the way to pick 224, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
