Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Raiders were there to profit. Tre Harris, the No. 49 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 4 slot. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Shedeur Sanders gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
The board had Nick Emmanwori higher than Round 2, Pick 5, and the safety fell to them anyway. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They robbed the room for Trey Amos here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Tre Harris in No. 108, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Cam Skattebo in slot 143 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 180th pick is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Chase Lundt reach the 213th overall pick and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Luke Lachey slipping to the Round 6 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It fills a real need, too.
Kobe Hudson at pick 222 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
