Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+.

If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Cardinals, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.

The cost of the Cole reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The DeJean steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.4 · Pick 4 · Marvin Harrison Jr. · WR · rank 1
In the 4th overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R1.31 · Pick 31 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 13
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a lockdown presence outside, and a steal at that. More want than need.
R3.2 · Pick 66 · Kiran Amegadjie · OT · rank 52
A slide stopped in No. 66, with Kiran Amegadjie worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.7 · Pick 71 · Chris Braswell · LB-EDGE · rank 57
The board had Chris Braswell higher than slot 71, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.27 · Pick 90 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 78
They let Cooper Beebe come to them and pounced at pick 90. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.4 · Pick 140 · Cole Bishop · S · rank 129
Cole Bishop at pick No. 140 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. A minor itch, scratched.
R5.19 · Pick 155 · Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint · WR · rank 147
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint is a better player than the 155th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.13 · Pick 188 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 197
They paid up for Christian Jones at the Round 6 slot when waiting would have done the job. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R6.36 · Pick 211 · JD Bertrand · LB · rank 195
Nice patience on JD Bertrand, who had no business lasting to Round 6, Pick 36. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.5 · Pick 225 · Maurice Smith · C · rank 245
They left a pile of value on the table to take Maurice Smith this early at the 225th overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.7 · Pick 227 · Myles Cole · DE-EDGE · rank 256
Myles Cole in slot 227 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
