The phones were a trap the Vikings kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. A D+ that will need time and luck to look better.
Bo Nix is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The cost of the Eichenberg reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
The Pritchett steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and wide receiver is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
Bo Nix at pick No. 25 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A conviction pick on Chris Braswell at pick 26 that the board grades a round light. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jackson Powers-Johnson at No. 42 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Davis at the 88th pick squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They liked Tommy Eichenberg enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 110. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
The board had cheaper options than Layden Robinson at the 148th overall pick, and it noticed. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Keith Randolph Jr. in Round 5, Pick 19 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Steal is underselling it; Nehemiah Pritchett at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Good price on LaDarius Henderson in the Round 5 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Cody Schrader at pick No. 179 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Erick All at the 211th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jalen Green at slot 217 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
J.J. Weaver in No. 230 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
