Las Vegas Raiders

Best value of the weekend goes to the Raiders for Mondon Jr.: A.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Smael Mondon Jr. got past him. The Raiders do not have to explain a thing at pick No. 212.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

The Gabriel reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

Bottom line, with Ashton Jeanty leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.15 · Pick 15 · Ashton Jeanty · RB · rank 2
In Round 1, Pick 15 they get a workhorse for the backfield at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
R2.5 · Pick 37 · Emeka Egbuka · WR · rank 23
A tidy bit of business in the 37th overall pick, where Emeka Egbuka graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R2.13 · Pick 45 · Nick Emmanwori · S · rank 13
They robbed the room for Nick Emmanwori here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R3.4 · Pick 68 · Darien Porter · CB · rank 75
No edge and no loss on Darien Porter in No. 68; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.9 · Pick 73 · Kaleb Johnson · RB · rank 39
Kaleb Johnson at slot 73 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R4.5 · Pick 106 · Dillon Gabriel · QB · rank 122
A reach for Dillon Gabriel in pick No. 106; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.5 · Pick 142 · Barrett Carter · LB · rank 77
Somehow Barrett Carter was still sitting there in pick 142, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R6.3 · Pick 178 · Jake Majors · C · rank 98
Jake Majors in the Round 6 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.37 · Pick 212 · Smael Mondon Jr. · LB · rank 104
The board fumbled Smael Mondon Jr. all the way to slot 212, and they scooped it up. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Jonah Monheim · C · rank 183
Jonah Monheim at No. 216 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R7.6 · Pick 222 · Akili Arnold · S · rank 202
They will replay Akili Arnold at the 222nd overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
