The board owed the Raiders one, and it paid up: Lathan Ransom, the No. 105 name on the board, sitting there at slot 143 like a gift left on the doorstep. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. They are betting Membou proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 6 they get a long-term starter on the line, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
Emeka Egbuka slid further than he should have, and pick No. 37 is lovely value for the wide receiver. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
TreVeyon Henderson at Round 3, Pick 4 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A slide stopped in pick 108, with Zy Alexander worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They robbed the room for Lathan Ransom here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They let DJ Giddens come to them and pounced at the 180th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board had Jay Higgins higher than the 213th overall pick, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A wide receiver of that caliber at No. 215 is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Karene Reid at Round 7, Pick 6 is the proof. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
