Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Raiders were there to profit. M.J. Devonshire, the No. 191 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 229th pick.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a true top target. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Nothing to complain about; Darius Robinson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Kris Abrams-Draine at the 77th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Christian Mahogany in the 112th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Trevor Keegan at pick No. 148 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Cody Schrader in pick 208 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Circle this one: Tahj Washington at No. 223 is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Steal is underselling it; M.J. Devonshire at Round 7, Pick 9 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
