Start where it matters. The Vikings took Michael Penix Jr. to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through safety. Every board in the league had Davis lower, and that gap is the story.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Trice. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 11 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Circle this one: Bralen Trice at Round 2, Pick 10 is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No drama and no debate, Max Melton went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Drake Nugent in No. 130 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Nehemiah Pritchett at the 148th pick is the proof. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Isaiah Davis at pick 160 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board had Justin Rogers higher than the 165th overall pick, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Andru Phillips slid further than he should have, and pick No. 179 is lovely value for the cornerback. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Daequan Hardy in pick 230 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
