In the Round 1 slot they get their quarterback of the future. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
DeWayne Carter at pick 108 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
No edge and no loss on Nelson Ceaser in slot 121; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A tidy little value on Max Melton in No. 125, a step better than break-even. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Good price on Ainias Smith in Round 4, Pick 30, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They went early on Keith Randolph Jr. in pick No. 148, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Layden Robinson at the 160th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nehemiah Pritchett in the 165th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Taking Moose Muhammad III in slot 179 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jawhar Jordan at pick No. 230 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
