They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Bo Nix is the Vikings' quarterback, full stop. They executed a plan and it shows in the A-.
The cost of the Steele reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The Wilson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The phones were where this weekend was really won.
For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Bo Nix and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 21 they get their guy under center for the next decade. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Denzel Burke in No. 64. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Somehow Roman Wilson was still sitting there in pick No. 112, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Nelson Ceaser. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Tommy Eichenberg in the 130th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Fair-plus on Sataoa Laumea, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Ainias Smith is a better player than the 134th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A quiet steal in the Round 5 slot: Cam Hart for less than the market said. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
The board had Nehemiah Pritchett higher than Round 5, Pick 24, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Moose Muhammad III at pick No. 165. A need, and now a little less of one.
Austin Booker at pick 179 is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Nice patience on Layden Robinson, who had no business lasting to the 190th pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Steal is underselling it; Justin Walley at slot 220 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
A big swing on Carson Steele at the 230th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It fills a real need, too.
Jawhar Jordan slid further than he should have, and No. 234 is lovely value for the running back. The roster fit checks out.
Isaiah Neyor at the Round 7 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
