There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Eagles started one anyway for Rondell Bothroyd, 28 picks ahead of schedule.
They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. However the rest shakes out, Allen at that price is a win they earned. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They let Ladd McConkey come to them and pounced at No. 50. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Calen Bullock is a better player than slot 59 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Nothing to complain about; Zak Zinter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Tommy Eichenberg in the 137th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They read the board right and Javion Cohen was the payoff at the 156th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
Braelon Allen at slot 172 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Roger Rosengarten in the 178th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Rondell Bothroyd this early at pick 248. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
