The Texans did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Ricky Pearsall fell into No. 234. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Nothing to complain about; Dallas Turner went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A straight-up fair deal on Jordan Morgan at Round 2, Pick 17, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Tyleik Williams at the 92nd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Good price on Audric Estime in slot 117, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They did well to land Junior Colson in the 126th pick, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Khyree Jackson at pick No. 154 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Steal is underselling it; Ricky Pearsall at the Round 7 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jordan Whittington at pick 238 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
