The board owed the Raiders one, and it paid up: Tyler Shough, the No. 153 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 6 slot like a gift left on the doorstep. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
Milroe has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Mason Graham in slot 6 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They will replay Nick Emmanwori at pick No. 37 for years; that is how good the value is. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Jalen Milroe at Round 3, Pick 4 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Fair-plus on Quinshon Judkins, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nice patience on Tez Johnson, who had no business lasting to No. 107. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They talked themselves into Dorian Strong at the 144th overall pick, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Steal is underselling it; Jack Nelson at the 182nd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Somehow Tyler Shough was still sitting there in the Round 6 slot, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They robbed the room for Dont'e Thornton Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Phil Mafah in the 224th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
