After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Vikings committed. Bo Nix is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
The Vidal pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. On value alone, King makes the weekend a net positive. For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Dallas Turner went about where he belonged in Round 1, Pick 11. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
In slot 23 they get the arm they will build around, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
A straight-up fair deal on Zak Zinter at No. 108, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tommy Eichenberg in the 129th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A big swing on Kimani Vidal at the 157th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Nice patience on Luke McCaffrey, who had no business lasting to pick 167. It fills a real need, too.
The board had Sataoa Laumea higher than the Round 6 slot, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
You do not let a cornerback like Kalen King reach pick No. 232 and blink. They did not. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
