Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Texans came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
The Jackson reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The Wilson pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 27 they get a ballhawk on the back end at fair value.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Xavier Worthy in No. 55. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A tidy bit of business in pick 56, where Ja'Tavion Sanders graded well above the range. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Value said wait; McKinnley Jackson in the 71st pick says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Johnny Wilson at Round 3, Pick 24. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Dominick Puni in pick No. 98, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Cooper Beebe at the 122nd overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They let Frank Gore Jr. come to them and pounced at the Round 5 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
