The Raiders did not so much draft Kendall Milton as overpay for him, 224 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. The bottom line is a respectable B.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Adding Michael Wilson by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 21st pick they get a disruptive interior force, even if it was a touch early.
Quinyon Mitchell at the Round 2 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on Sedrick Van Pran in pick No. 66; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Christian Haynes at slot 78 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Junior Colson at Round 4, Pick 14 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They did well to land Darius Robinson in pick 151, just ahead of his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Dwight McGlothern this early at slot 192. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A real head-scratcher, Kendall Milton in the 223rd pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Value said wait; Sam Hartman in the 235th overall pick says they were not listening. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
