The Raiders spent real capital to be 38 picks early on Sam Hartman, and the board is going to hold them to it. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
The dealing was even money, start to finish.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
They did well to land Kool-Aid McKinstry in the 14th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reach for Byron Murphy II in pick No. 51; a little patience would have been rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Quinyon Mitchell at No. 78 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They liked Bucky Irving enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 97. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Zach Frazier. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Darius Robinson in the Round 5 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Christian Mahogany in slot 192 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Sam Hartman at the 235th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
