Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Raiders came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. Very little went wrong, and the A is earned.
The Zinter pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
The veteran additions, Matthew Bergeron chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 13 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Bo Nix in No. 44. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They let McKinnley Jackson come to them and pounced at Round 4, Pick 31. The roster fit checks out.
They will replay Zak Zinter at the 133rd pick for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Christian Jones at the Round 5 slot is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board fumbled Cornelius Johnson all the way to slot 213, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
