The real work happened on the phones. The Eagles fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with.
On value alone, Holker makes the weekend a net positive. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The veteran additions, Jeremy Chinn chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
Bottom line, with Cooper DeJean leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 22 they get a ballhawk on the outside, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
A straight-up fair deal on Jermaine Burton at the 50th pick, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Kingsley Suamataia at pick 54 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
Tykee Smith in pick No. 101 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A need, and now a little less of one.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 5 slot, where Justin Eboigbe graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Dallin Holker at Round 5, Pick 27 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Good price on Frank Gore Jr. in pick 172, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Eric Gentry at the 243rd pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It adds depth where they could use a little.
