For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Eagles walked out of the weekend still thin at interior defensive lineman, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons.
Every board in the league had Gore Jr. lower, and that gap is the story. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes. Ty Shelby gives the group a proven body among the projects.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 27 they get a bendy edge with upside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Denzel Burke in the 50th pick is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Javon Bullard. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A straight-up fair deal on Jamari Thrash at pick No. 97, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No drama and no debate, Luke McCaffrey went about where he belonged in slot 137. The roster fit checks out.
By-the-book stuff, LaDarius Henderson at pick 172 squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Frank Gore Jr. in Round 5, Pick 37 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reach on Delmar Glaze in the 178th overall pick; the board had better options right there. It fills a real need, too.
Brevyn Spann-Ford at the 248th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
