The Eagles did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Beau Brade fell into slot 161.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one. They went 8 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 22 they get a potential shutdown corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
By-the-book stuff, Junior Colson at No. 50 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
They paid sticker price for Jermaine Burton in slot 53, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Davis. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They barely believed it either: Beau Brade still on the board at Round 5, Pick 25. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Trevor Keegan in the 163rd overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Walter Rouse in pick 171. A need, and now a little less of one.
Circle this one: Marcus Harris at the Round 5 slot is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at slot 210 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A straight-up fair deal on Trey Knox at Round 7, Pick 5, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Taking Frank Gore Jr. in the 253rd overall pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
