The board owed the Eagles one, and it paid up: Jha'Quan Jackson, the No. 178 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 7 slot like a gift left on the doorstep. A weekend of give and take that grades a C+.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move. On the needs board they went 7 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 22 they get a press-man option on the boundary. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Edgerrin Cooper at pick 50 squarely in line with his ranking. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jermaine Burton. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They read the board right and Zak Zinter was the payoff at pick No. 120. It fills a real need, too.
They robbed the room for Will Shipley here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No edge and no loss on Walter Rouse in the 161st overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board had Kitan Oladapo higher than slot 171, and the safety fell to them anyway. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A tidy little value on Jaheim Bell in Round 5, Pick 36, a step better than break-even. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A slide stopped in No. 204, with Johnny Dixon worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Steele Chambers slid further than he should have, and pick No. 210 is lovely value for the linebacker. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
A tidy bit of business in slot 225, where Javontae Jean-Baptiste graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Sheridan Jones at the Round 7 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Jha'Quan Jackson in the 253rd overall pick, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
