The war room fell hard for Kyle McCord, and it showed at slot 106: 115 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
On value alone, Mondon Jr. makes the weekend a net positive. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 8 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Omarion Hampton in Round 2, Pick 7 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They reached into another round for Charles Grant, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They took Jayden Higgins at par in pick No. 70, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Kyle McCord in the 106th overall pick, miles early. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board fumbled Danny Stutsman all the way to slot 146, and they scooped it up. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Thor Griffith at slot 183 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A quiet steal in pick No. 212: Miles Frazier for less than the market said. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Smael Mondon Jr. in the Round 6 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
