It is the swing that defines the weekend: J.J. Weaver in slot 216, a good 117 spots before the room expected him.
The Paul Jr. pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 8 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Dylan Fairchild at Round 2, Pick 7 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
You do not let a running back like Dylan Sampson reach pick No. 69 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jayden Higgins. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They reached a country mile for Kyle McCord at No. 106, and the board is aghast. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They robbed the room for Kevin Winston Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They barely believed it either: Chris Paul Jr. still on the board at No. 183. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Tim Smith in the Round 6 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
J.J. Weaver at Round 6, Pick 41 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Ollie Gordon II at the 223rd pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
