Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Raiders spent Round 2, Pick 5 on Jaxson Dart, a name the board had a full 103 spots lower. The final tally is a middling C+.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Winston Jr.. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Mason Graham went about where he belonged in the 6th overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
Jaxson Dart in No. 37 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Dylan Sampson at pick 68 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
The board had cheaper options than Barrett Carter at slot 73, and it noticed. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Jake Majors in Round 4, Pick 6 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They robbed the room for Kevin Winston Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor itch, scratched.
Theo Wease Jr. at the 179th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They talked themselves into KJ Jefferson at pick 212, and the board did not agree. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value with a capital V on Jaishawn Barham in slot 216, a genuine coup. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Shilo Sanders this early at Round 7, Pick 6. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
