The search is over. The Raiders handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
They are betting Spann-Ford proves the room right and everyone else wrong. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.
So much rides on Jayden Daniels that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 7 they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
Value with a capital V on Jermaine Burton in Round 3, Pick 13, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They liked Cam Hart enough to skip the value, taking him in the 114th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid up for Christian Jones at the 169th pick when waiting would have done the job. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A wild overpay on Brevyn Spann-Ford in the Round 6 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It fills a real need, too.
Steele Chambers is a better player than slot 234 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Fair-plus on Fentrell Cypress II, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
