The Raiders torched the value chart for Tyler Harrell, taking him 153 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The Phillips steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 29 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
A conviction pick on T'Vondre Sweat at No. 44 that the board grades a round light. A need, and now a little less of one.
Zak Zinter at slot 91 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid up for Khyree Jackson at pick 92 when waiting would have done the job. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They reached a country mile for Jordan Travis at pick No. 113, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Fair-plus on Darius Robinson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A reach for Ty'Ron Hopper in Round 5, Pick 11; a little patience would have been rewarded. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Andru Phillips in the 194th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Brevyn Spann-Ford at pick No. 221 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They took Jase McClellan at par in the Round 7 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Tyler Harrell in slot 233 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
