Las Vegas Raiders

A respectable, level-headed haul for the Raiders: B.

The Collin Oliver selection is the head-turner. The Raiders reached 104 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

On value alone, Giddens makes the weekend a net positive. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The skill positions did well by the weekend.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.5 · Pick 5 · Tetairoa McMillan · WR · rank 6
In slot 5 they get a home-run threat at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · Omarion Hampton · RB · rank 15
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Omarion Hampton in the Round 2 slot, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Xavier Watts · S · rank 20
You do not let a safety like Xavier Watts reach Round 3, Pick 3 and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R3.6 · Pick 70 · Jay Higgins · LB · rank 61
A slide stopped in pick 70, with Jay Higgins worth more than the price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R4.5 · Pick 106 · Kurtis Rourke · QB · rank 124
A big swing on Kurtis Rourke at No. 106, well ahead of any board in the building. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.4 · Pick 142 · Deone Walker · DT · rank 128
Deone Walker slipping to pick No. 142 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.4 · Pick 179 · Collin Oliver · LB-EDGE · rank 283
Collin Oliver at the Round 6 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.37 · Pick 212 · Miles Frazier · OG · rank 194
They barely believed it either: Miles Frazier still on the board at the 212th overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R7.1 · Pick 215 · Jonah Monheim · C · rank 196
Jonah Monheim in pick 215 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.6 · Pick 220 · DJ Giddens · RB · rank 151
A running back of that caliber at slot 220 is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
