The Raiders went off the board in a big way for Emani Bailey, 33 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 13th overall pick they get a long-term starter on the line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No drama and no debate, Roman Wilson went about where he belonged in slot 44. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Max Melton in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Value said wait; Jarrian Jones in pick 112 says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They jumped the gun on Walter Rouse, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Edefuan Ulofoshio at Round 6, Pick 33 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Eric Watts in the 223rd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A real head-scratcher, Emani Bailey in pick 229 is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
