Nobody else had Garrett Dellinger anywhere near the 222nd overall pick. The Raiders did, by 75 spots, and that gap is the whole story. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Brown. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a press-man option on the boundary. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Jihaad Campbell went about where he belonged in slot 33. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They paid sticker price for Xavier Watts in No. 37, and that is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They read the board right and TreVeyon Henderson was the payoff at pick 67. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Quinshon Judkins at the 68th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
By-the-book stuff, Jalen Milroe at pick No. 94 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Anthony Belton at pick No. 108 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They robbed the room for Jacob Parrish here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Logan Brown in the 180th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A reach for Jaylin Lane in Round 6, Pick 37; a little patience would have been rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A wild overpay on Isaac TeSlaa in slot 215, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Garrett Dellinger at No. 222 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
