The phones were a trap the Eagles kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.
The Milton III reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
They banked enough surplus on Mustapha to cover a lot of smaller sins. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
If Nate Wiggins and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
A clean, defensible pick in pick 22 with a little surplus value in Nate Wiggins. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Kingsley Suamataia at the 53rd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A quiet steal in the Round 2 slot: Edgerrin Cooper for less than the market said. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Xavier Worthy is a better player than Round 3, Pick 5 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Marshawn Kneeland in slot 89 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had cheaper options than Braelon Allen at the 97th pick, and it noticed. It fills a real need, too.
No edge and no loss on AJ Barner in No. 160; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Value with a capital V on Malik Mustapha in pick No. 170, a genuine coup. The roster fit checks out.
Joe Milton III at Round 6, Pick 3 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They read the board right and Sheridan Jones was the payoff at pick No. 240. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
