Minnesota Vikings

Quarterback settled, Daniels in the fold, and a F for the Vikings.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Vikings did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. Little went right, and the F does not pretend otherwise.

Jayden Daniels gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

On value alone, Worthy makes the weekend a net positive. It is not that Sainristil is a bad player; it is that the Vikings had louder needs to answer first.

Reaching for Travis left real value on the table behind him. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.

About as rough as a weekend gets on paper, with edge rusher still staring back at them.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.2 · Pick 2 · Jayden Daniels · QB · rank 7
In the 2nd pick they get their guy under center for the next decade. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R1.6 · Pick 6 · Joe Alt · OT · rank 3
In pick 6 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R1.27 · Pick 27 · Kool-Aid McKinstry · CB · rank 25
In pick No. 27 they get a sticky cover corner. Need was not the driver here.
R2.10 · Pick 42 · Keon Coleman · WR · rank 36
They did well to land Keon Coleman in Round 2, Pick 10, just ahead of his grade. It fills a real need, too.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Roman Wilson · WR · rank 45
A straight-up fair deal on Roman Wilson at the 47th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Mike Sainristil · CB · rank 66
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Mike Sainristil adds a cornerback and leaves edge rusher and tight end untouched.
R4.1 · Pick 101 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 109
Braelon Allen in No. 101 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.3 · Pick 103 · Dadrion Taylor-Demerson · S · rank 83
Circle this one: Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.4 · Pick 104 · Xavier Worthy · WR · rank 56
Somehow Xavier Worthy was still sitting there in slot 104, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.7 · Pick 107 · Mekhi Wingo · DT · rank 113
No drama and no debate, Mekhi Wingo went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R4.28 · Pick 128 · Sataoa Laumea · OT · rank 117
The board had Sataoa Laumea higher than No. 128, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.1 · Pick 137 · Jordan Travis · QB · rank 157
Jordan Travis at the 137th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.20 · Pick 156 · Tommy Eichenberg · LB · rank 144
Tommy Eichenberg at pick 156 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R5.30 · Pick 166 · Trevor Keegan · OG · rank 162
Fair-plus on Trevor Keegan, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.1 · Pick 176 · Jaylan Ford · LB · rank 196
Jaylan Ford at pick No. 176 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R6.12 · Pick 187 · Kitan Oladapo · S · rank 156
Kitan Oladapo in Round 6, Pick 12 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.10 · Pick 230 · Frank Gore Jr. · RB · rank 224
Good price on Frank Gore Jr. in slot 230, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
