The board owed the Vikings one, and it paid up: Terrion Arnold, the No. 20 name on the board, sitting there at pick No. 42 like a gift left on the doorstep. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They are betting McMahon proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the safety spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 11 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Taking Terrion Arnold in pick No. 42 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. A minor itch, scratched.
Matt Goncalves in No. 108 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They did well to land Tommy Eichenberg in the Round 4 slot, just ahead of his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Kamal Hadden slid further than he should have, and slot 148 is lovely value for the cornerback. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Joe Milton III at Round 5, Pick 24 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They read the board right and Ty'Ron Hopper was the payoff at the 166th pick. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
A straight-up fair deal on Isaiah Davis at the 179th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A reach for Dylan McMahon in pick 230; a little patience would have been rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
