The search is over. The Raiders handed the keys to Carson Beck, and the whole operation now runs on his development. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. That Miller pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
They paid sticker price for Tyler Booker in the 39th overall pick, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jordan Hancock in No. 71 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Blake Miller at Round 4, Pick 7 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 135, where Tahj Brooks graded well above the range. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Will Lee III in pick 167. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No drama and no debate, Xavier Truss went about where he belonged in slot 199. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
