Minnesota Vikings

Best value of the weekend goes to the Vikings for James: B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Jordan James tumbling to the Vikings in the 140th pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with safety the one that mattered most.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.3 · Pick 35 · Kenneth Grant · DT · rank 29
Kenneth Grant at slot 35 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
R3.28 · Pick 92 · Deone Walker · DT · rank 71
Deone Walker at pick No. 92 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.33 · Pick 97 · Jake Majors · C · rank 95
Jake Majors at pick 97 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.2 · Pick 140 · Jordan James · RB · rank 56
Steal is underselling it; Jordan James at the 140th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.25 · Pick 163 · Smael Mondon Jr. · LB · rank 108
Smael Mondon Jr. in No. 163 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R7.28 · Pick 242 · Xavier Nwankpa · S · rank 194
A safety of that caliber at the Round 7 slot is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
