You build a draft on nights like this. Blake Fisher had no business being available in pick 133, and the Cardinals did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Every board in the league had Taylor III lower, and that gap is the story. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 4 they get a difference-maker at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In the 27th overall pick they get a double-digit-sack hope, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
A quiet steal in No. 35: Terrion Arnold for less than the market said. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They paid sticker price for Ruke Orhorhoro in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
No drama and no debate, Johnny Wilson went about where he belonged in slot 71. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Roman Wilson in pick 90 lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Leonard Taylor III at the 104th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Blake Fisher in Round 4, Pick 33 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
