The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Vikings spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
They are betting Hampton proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.
The trade work was a quiet net positive. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term answer under center. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Elijah Jones at No. 108 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Justin Eboigbe at pick 129 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Javion Cohen at the 157th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A big swing on Myles Cole at the 167th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Dominique Hampton at Round 6, Pick 2 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They reached a country mile for Rasheen Ali at slot 232, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
