The Vikings spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The cost of the Johnson reach is exactly the players who went right after him. A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 5 they get a passer to set the clock by. The biggest hole, addressed.
Edgerrin Cooper in pick 42 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
By-the-book stuff, Isaac Guerendo at pick No. 107 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
They paid sticker price for Jaylin Simpson in the 128th overall pick, and that is fine. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Luke McCaffrey in No. 156 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They reached a country mile for Jordan Jefferson at the 166th pick, and the board is aghast. A need, and now a little less of one.
Dillon Johnson at the Round 6 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Cedric Johnson in Round 6, Pick 12, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid up for KT Leveston at the 230th pick when waiting would have done the job. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
