The Vikings spent the pick that matters most on Drake Maye, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
Tracy Jr. falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Eboigbe has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 5 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
By-the-book stuff, Edgerrin Cooper at the Round 2 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They read the board right and Christian Mahogany was the payoff at the 109th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They liked Justin Eboigbe enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 134. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A wide receiver of that caliber at No. 156 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Dillon Johnson in pick No. 166 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A slide stopped in the 179th pick, with Luke McCaffrey worth more than the price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Taking Mason McCormick in Round 6, Pick 15 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid sticker price for Tyler Owens in Round 7, Pick 6, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
