They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. J.J. McCarthy is the Vikings' quarterback, full stop. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
Landing Mahogany that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They are betting McCarthy proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 15 they get their guy under center for the next decade, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
Darius Robinson in Round 2, Pick 10 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Trey Benson is a better player than No. 109 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board fumbled Christian Mahogany all the way to slot 130, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
By-the-book stuff, Justin Eboigbe at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A slide stopped in the 156th pick, with Jarrian Jones worth more than the price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Good price on Jaheim Bell in the 166th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Dwight McGlothern in pick No. 179 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tahj Washington. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
M.J. Devonshire at slot 193 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
