Some picks age like wine; Garrett Dellinger at the Round 7 slot will need to, sitting 75 spots clear of his grade. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
Belton at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Jahdae Barron at the 20th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Emeka Egbuka slid further than he should have, and No. 33 is lovely value for the wide receiver. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They took Jihaad Campbell at par in pick No. 37, which is nothing to complain about. It adds depth where they could use a little.
TreVeyon Henderson in Round 2, Pick 19 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Quinshon Judkins at pick 68 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A need, and now a little less of one.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Andrew Mukuba. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jaylin Noel at the Round 4 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had Darius Alexander higher than pick 108, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They barely believed it either: Anthony Belton still on the board at Round 5, Pick 5. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good price on Jack Nelson in pick No. 180, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jaydon Blue at the 191st pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Circle this one: Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the 213th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They read the board right and Caleb Ransaw was the payoff at No. 215. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
A big swing on Garrett Dellinger at slot 222, well ahead of any board in the building. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
