There is conviction, and then there is this. The Cardinals took Devontez Walker a full 68 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. The Hart pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback, running back and other spots still on the board.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 3 they get an anchor for the offensive line. The biggest hole, addressed.
In the 17th overall pick they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Devontez Walker. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Denzel Burke in pick No. 67 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A minor itch, scratched.
Kamren Kinchens in No. 73 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A straight-up fair deal on Ruke Orhorhoro at slot 81, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback, running back and other spots to take Cam Hart, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Justin Rogers at the 133rd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
