The one they had to fix is still broken. The Raiders left edge rusher untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
That Trotter Jr. pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 13 they get a disruptive interior force. A clean fit for the roster.
They took J.J. McCarthy at par in No. 46, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the 77th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It adds depth where they could use a little.
No edge and no loss on Christian Haynes in slot 78; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Sataoa Laumea. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jaylin Simpson in the 153rd overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No drama and no debate, Matthew Jones went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
