The trade table was where it all came apart. The Raiders shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. A weekend to file away and forget, and an F to match.
Everything downstream of Jayden Daniels depends on Jayden Daniels, and the building knows it. They are betting Cephus proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. On value alone, Brown makes the weekend a net positive.
They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
In short, a weekend the front office will want to forget in a hurry.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jayden Daniels. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A straight-up fair deal on Patrick Paul at slot 44, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Roman Wilson at par in pick No. 77, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
By-the-book stuff, DJ James at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid up for Beaux Limmer at Round 4, Pick 27 when waiting would have done the job. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A premium they did not need to pay, Keith Randolph Jr. a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good price on Frank Gore Jr. in the 182nd overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Curtis Jacobs in No. 190 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A minor itch, scratched.
Gabe Hall at the Round 6 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Omar Brown in the 221st overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Joshua Cephus this early at pick No. 231. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
