Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Cornelius Johnson at pick 116 is 72 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. However the rest shakes out, Zinter at that price is a win they earned.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 13 they get a building block for the line at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They paid sticker price for T.J. Tampa in the 48th overall pick, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Spencer Rattler in slot 77, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Isaac Guerendo at Round 4, Pick 12 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
A quiet steal in the 114th pick: Zak Zinter for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Cornelius Johnson at the Round 4 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They reached into another round for Joe Milton III, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Trey Knox in pick 208 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Eyabi Okie-Anoma in No. 223 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Trevin Wallace in slot 229 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor itch, scratched.
