They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Shedeur Sanders is the Raiders' quarterback, full stop. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
On value alone, Edwards makes the weekend a net positive. Reaching for Conner left real value on the table behind him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value.
By-the-book stuff, Jihaad Campbell at Round 2, Pick 5 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 68 with a little surplus value in Quinshon Judkins. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Savion Williams in slot 108. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reach for Tommi Hill in the 143rd overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A real head-scratcher, Hayden Conner in No. 180 is miles ahead of his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Donovan Edwards at the Round 6 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A big swing on Seth McLaughlin at the 215th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Donovan Smith well ahead of where he belonged. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
