The Eagles spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Cooper Beebe, the No. 75 name on the board, in pick No. 97. The bottom line is a respectable B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. The Gore Jr. pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd overall pick they get a sticky cover corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Taking Xavier Legette in pick 54 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jeremiah Trotter Jr.. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Cooper Beebe in the 97th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
The board had cheaper options than Frank Gore Jr. at Round 5, Pick 24, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Cody Schrader at slot 170 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Keith Randolph Jr. at No. 171. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board had Cedric Johnson higher than the Round 6 slot, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Taulia Tagovailoa in the 240th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
