You could see the war room lean forward. Daequan Hardy at pick No. 248 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. Reaching for Ulofoshio left real value on the table behind him.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 23 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value.
A straight-up fair deal on Javon Bullard at slot 59, value and slot in agreement. A minor itch, scratched.
Christian Mahogany at Round 3, Pick 22 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Edefuan Ulofoshio in the 127th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They let Austin Booker come to them and pounced at the Round 5 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jordan Whittington at the 239th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They barely believed it either: Daequan Hardy still on the board at pick 248. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
